Through Feb 4: have read chapters 2-5, 18

Written homework due Feb 6: provide answers to problems (2.1, 2.3, 3.1, 4.3, 5.2, 5.3) and answer the question: "What information about voiced speech sounds does the short-term spectral envelope convey to the listener? How about the fine structure of the harmonics?" Also, for Feb 6 and 8, the associated chapters in the text are 8 and 9 respectively.

Feb 13: quiz in class on material from chapters 2-5, 8 and 9, and 18.

Feb 15: read chapter 14 in prep for Mesgarani lecture

Feb 22: read chapter 10 in prep for Acoustical Basics lecture

Feb 27: skim chapter 13 in prep for Room acoustics lecture

Written homework due Feb 29: provide answers to problems (9.2, 9.4, 10.1, 10.5, 14.4, 14.5) and answer the question: "Describe phase locking in the auditory nerve. Over roughly what frequencies does this take place? "

No more written homeworks after Feb 29, but the quiz on March 12 will be on material in chapters 13, 19-22, and 23. After that all the readings will be on applications.
