     ATM intro - introduction to ATM network management commands

DESCRIPTION

     This section contains an overview of commands  that  perform
     various  management functions for FORE Systems ATM networks;
     each is described in detail in its own manual entry.

ATM SWITCH-RESIDENT SOFTWARE

     The asxd and snmpd programs are run  automatically  whenever
     the  FORE Systems ASX ATM LAN switch is turned on.  The asx-
     test program should not normally be needed, and is  incompa-
     tible with normal operation of the ATM switch.

NETWORK MANAGEMENT COMMANDS FOR ATM SWITCHES

     These programs are supplied with the FORE  Systems  ASX  ATM
     LAN  switches.   They are intended to be executed as desired
     on a network management workstation. They are not  necessary
     for normal operation of the ATM switch.

     Since these commands may interfere with normal operation  of
     the  ATM  network  if improperly used, system administrators
     should take appropriate measures to restrict their use.

     These programs are supplied with the FORE Systems  ATM  com-
     puter  interfaces.   They  are  intended  to  be executed as
     desired by the workstation administrator.

     Since these commands may interfere with normal operation  of
     the  ATM  network  if improperly used, system administrators
     should take appropriate measures to restrict their use.
