How to set up a local connection between a
Bagnet and a May workstation
To set up a local IP over ATM connection between a Bagnet and a MAY workstion
you have to process the following steps. As an examle the connection between
icsibag3 and icsimay0 is used.
1. Changes at the switch:
- login at the switch management station:
- rlogin icsib8
- change to the management software directory:
- cd /usr/lnms/bin
- start the batch configuration tool:
- ./lcell_pvcbatch -b /dev/tty -i 128.32.201.58
- use the Open Call command to set up a PVC (in this exaple between port 4 VCI 1000 to port 9 VCI 1000):
- OC PP VC 000081074DBA:00 4 0 1000 000081074DBA:00 9 0 1000 UBR 1 1
- use Ctrl-c to exit the configuration tool
2. Changes at icsibag3 (icsib92 with interphase ATM-Adapter):
- make a static entrance in the routing table of the Workstation:
- /etc/local/route add net 141.39.0.0 192.6.28.59 0
- use the pvcarp command to set up the mapping between the IP address and the corresponding PVC:
- pvcarp -s icsimay0 1000
3. Changes at icsimay0 (gumbo with Fore ATM-Adapter):
- make a static entrance in the routing table of the Workstation:
- /etc/local/route add net 192.6.28.0 141.39.18.10 0
- change to the Fore software directory:
- cd /usr/fore/etc
- use the atmarp command to set up the mapping between the IP address and the corresponding PVC:
- ./atmarp -c icsibag3 qaa1 0 1000 0 1000
4. Test the connection using the ping command.
