Multicasting is one of the major challenges for the next generation
of high-speed networks, carrying multimedia traffic. Many applications
require streams from one sender to many receivers, and the network's ability
to understand and handle such streams is essential to meet the quality
of service requirements of multimedia applications.
This workshop brought together experts from Germany and from California to discuss the state of the art and their current projects in this field. The workshop was itself distributed, with participants in Berkeley and in Mannheim. The presentations and discussions were transmitted over ATM, using the MBone tools developed in Berkeley. |
