Vamos Vecino ("Let's go, neighbor!") is the political slogan associated with the incumbent party in Peru (and, it turns out, Somos Peru is their rival party). We had a long political discussion (in Spanish!) with the man shown here, who had been busily engaged in contributing to the slogan's ubiquity. When asked whether he supports President Fujimoro, he said, "Ahora" ("now"), citing his concern that Fujimoro over-emphasizes Lima, the capital, at the expense of the outlying regions, such as his native Iquitos, in the north of Peru near the Ecuador border. (Unfortunately, we lost his address and were never able to send him a copy -- please let us know if you know him!)
