ICSI Speech FAQ:
10.1 How do I prepare and print a poster?

Answer by: nikki - 2004-01-29

Here are a few hints from my experience of creating a poster for ICASSP04:

- Adobe Illustrator (AI) is a fine choice, but ther is some startup time to learn the tricks of the trade. Best is to use power point.

- It's always easier to start from a previously created poster, so that you can rely on the size definitions, etc., as you learn your way around. You can use the speech poster in ~nikki/Public/ICASSP04_fcdt_poster.ppt as a starting point.

- Given all the dificulties in successfully printing on the device on campus, making a trip to Kinko's and paying $136 (3 feet by 6 feet, shiny paper) is a better option. Take a pdf copy of your poster. The speech poster was ready in a day (maybe faster if you're in a hurry, but don't count on it).
